19th Century Style Cabinet: Should We Paint It Green?

Good Questions

Q: Some time ago we purchased a cabinet/cupboard for €150. It's a 20th century reproduction of a 19th century design. After looking at it for some time in its current state, we feel like we should paint it. The veneer is intact, but not so easy on the eyes. The former owner put some lighting in. But I'm on the fence, because painting the veneer would be a lot of work, and wouldn't be reversible.

So, the million dollar question is: should we paint it or not? We're considering the green from our curtains, in a lighter shade.

Your advice is much appreciated!
