There are all kinds of reasons to buy the family organic foods but the price tag sometimes leaves us in a bit of a quandry in the produce department. If you find yourself debating when to buy the kiddies organic fruit and veg and when to save the pennies by buying conventially grown produce then you might be interested in a couple of lists we found: the Clean 15 and the New Dirty Dozen.

The Clean 15 is a list of fruits and vegetables that The Daily Green says you don't really need to buy organic based on their lack of pesticidal residue. There are other reasons to buy organic but if you are pinching pennies at the grocery store, this is a good place to start. The top 5 are:
1. Onions
2. Corn
3. Pineapple
4. Avocado
5. Asparagus

If you are interested in the full list pay The Daily Green a visit.

On the other hand, the New Dirty Dozen is an updated list of 12 foods that have the highest pesticide residue found on them. As you will see there are a number of kiddie favorites. The top 5 are:
1. Apples
2. Celery
3. Strawberries
4. Peaches
5. Spinach
