Resources
Besides IKEA (duh) + the street (Jeff rescued the old pediatrician table years ago--I used it as a vanity + it's now P's changing table), JCPenney.com has great affordable basics.
What inspired you?
Pilar’s room is inspired by my mother. Even though money was tight, my mother used her boundless creativity to make my childhood room a wonderful space for my imagination. She painted trees + hung a swing, or stapled Marimekko sheets to the walls to create sweeping canopies.
I didn't want our space + budget restrictions to limit Pilar's first room, so we filled it with color, light + ideas for her ever-inquisitive mind. The loving gifts of family + friends, from crafts to their labor in building the nursery itself, make Pilar’s room all the more special for our new family.

Great Tip:
Pilar's already grabbing at things + that made us realize that the picture we'd hung over her changing table would soon pose a serious safety hazard. So we bought two colorful plexi sheets + drilled them into the wall--they will form the backdrop for rotating "art" exhibits (currently on show: removeable decals from blik (birds) and mimi lou (red goldfish)).

Please tell me which crib model that is!
Mrs. J - I believe it's Moda from Room & Board.
This is a great nursery. The colours are so bright and cheerful. How lucky to find that cool pediatrician's table!
First off, I LOVE the changing table. It's so cool and functional and I'm assuming it was free or really cheap, what a great find!
Also, I'm totally stealing that plexi sheet on the wall idea, it's a very chic way of keeping things fresh.
I love seeing a nursery that's not super high end and yet totally baby friendly and gorgeous, well done!
I love it. I love it all. The plexi sheet wall is genius. I hate pastels (especially for nurseries) and love that this is all bright cheerful colors without making my eyes hurt. Lucky Pilar!
I really love this. Are those Flor Carpet tiles?
Thanks everyone for your comments. We were lucky to find the ped table! Those are FLOR tiles (house pet/grasshopper). The nursery is our dog's favorite sleeping space and the FLOR tiles are really easily washed/have survived a lot of wear and tear. The crib is from Room & Board. The other stuff is IKEA &/or craigslist. The plastic sheets were from Pete's Plastics on Fort Hamilton Pkwy in Bklyn, and the wall color is no-VOC paint from American Pride, mixed to match a Benjamin Moore color ("chick"). Thx! Jenn
Gorgeous! I love the color and the plexi sheets.
Mod & Sweet! A big thumbs up!
