Name: Billy
Location: Oakland, CA
Size & Type: 448.5 sq. ft. 1-bedroom apartment

Favorite resource: Dwell, Surface, Room & Board, Tail of the Yak, Maison De Etre, Friend SF, CB2, 2Modern

Pitch: My apartment is quite cool because the mid century décor compliments the boxy, 50's architecture. As I'm a renter, I could not score permission to custom paint, so I had to work with the white walls. Luckily, they have a very nice plastering texture, so I played off that with creative uses of lighting.

Pitch Cont'd: The focal point of the living area is a cowhide upholstered Le Corbusier Pierre chair. A Nelson bench creates a very versatile coffee table/ottoman. I chose furnishings that were low to the ground to add a sense of height to the ceilings, and contrasted them with high vertical shelves and storage cubes that compose the home office area.

Your favorite element: I love Cubos storage cubes, they are amazingly space-efficient, as well as the Gallery shelves/desk. I also love the Pierre chair, it's the most comfortable and iconic piece in my place.
