It's quite a blessing that there are so many creative and innovative ways to store things in the kitchen. With a fresh take and a will to repurpose, you can create an eclectic, functional kitchen space with a variety of different elements—some of which you never thought would end up in the kitchen!
So, what kinds of things can be reused for kitchen storage?
For utensil storage:
For linens:
For a kitchen island:
- A dresser as a kitchen island
- A salvaged industrial table
- A Lego sculpture
- File cabinets and a butcher block
- A library card catalog
- More dressers!
- An antique woodworker's table
- A lab bench
For dishes, pots and pans:
For everything else:
- Vintage Airline Food Carts
- Card catalog drawer
- An IKEA white EXPEDIT-like bookshelf
- Test tubes for spices

I love them all! Except the Legos. I love Legos, but not as furniture.
The lego bench is very interesting though personally far too much going on for my liking but I am sure a lot of people would love it!
I covet the test tube spices!
these are awesome! i love the blueberry cans as utensil holders (ADORABLE!!) and the vegetable storage crates...we might just borrow that idea for our casa!!!
i also did something similar recently...i purchased a $.99 cornflower blue utensil holder at goodwill and voila...a remote holder for our coffee table:

Cool! I use a small garden planter for my utensils, too. Works great, much cheaper than a container at a kitchen store.
I use a pretty tea pot for utensils. I also love the test tubes for spices.
Love the test tube one! I keep my spices in an old Coke crate.
