• Jonathan Adler — The first name that comes to mind when I think happy modern is Jonathan Adler. What started as whimsical pottery back in the late 90s has expanded to colorful furnishings for the entire home. Shown here: Templeton Queen Bed.
• Dwell Studio — From furniture, like this Sven Dining Chair and Axel Dining Table, to rugs, fabric and wall decor, Dwell Studio is a great resource for decorating and DIYing.
• CB2 — Crate and Barrel's younger sibling is a great resource for modern furniture with punchy color – like this Specs Trefoil Chair.
• Unison — Of course happy modern style extends beyond furniture. Unison is one of our favorite resources for stylish bedding, like this Sailor + Regatta Navy Duvet, as well as table linens and other housewares.
• 2Modern — With a little help from stores like 2Modern, you can have a happy modern child, too. Items like the Sparrow Crib would be welcome additions in small space nurseries that are shared rooms.
• Woonwinkel — Named after the Dutch word meaning "home shop," Woonwinkel offers furniture, accessories and lighting from independent designers. We're especially fond of this Civic Stack Dresser from Portland designers Von Tundra.
• Modernica — Not only does Modernica offer fun modern designs, like this Papa Bear Chair and Ottoman, it's all manufactured in Los Angeles. (We took a tour of their factory back in 2007.)
• Module R — As their name suggests, this online store focuses on modular designs. From furniture, like these Boom Design Hive Cubes, to lighting and art, Module R is a tinkerer's delight.
• Resource Furniture — Small space dwellers will love this option. Resource Furniture is happy modern with an added surprise - it all mutli-purpose, like this La Literal Bed.
• Rypen — This Minneapolis collective curates a web shop of cool designers from all over the world. Like many of the designs, New Breed Furniture's Petalpy Chairone come out of small one- and two-person workshops.

Nomade Express Slee...
What about that little turquoise and wood coffee table in the picture of the living room illustrating the article? From which store is it?
That couch! With the multi-greens and multi-cushions! In the lead photo! Where can I look for it - I think I'm in luv!
(ah, and in fine should-have-read-more-closely style, I can seek out an answer to my own question from the house tour from which the picture comes: "Polder Sofa by Hella Jongerius: Vitra").
These are all just my style. The bed w/ the Unison bedding -anyone?
Woah, what a surprise to see a picture of my living room here! (the one with the modernica, that's not me though).
I love all the happy modern pictures.
the Polder sofa is a dream, an unfortunately will remain that way for me. Starting price of 8 and a half thousand. Why pair such a beautiful design with the tragically ugly rug?
I think Alexander Girard designs are the epitome of "happy modern."
Thanks for a great list of modern and reasonably priced modern stores, I favor the Modernica Papa Bear chair with the Ottoman, it has great style does not occupy a lot of space but looks very comfy.
