The President’s Design Award, established in 2005 by President S R Nathan, aims to select a Singapore-based designer (across all design disciplines) who best reflects excellence in design. Kerry Hall was the 2010 winner of the prestigious President’s Designer Of The Year Award in Singapore for his achievements in architectural design.

Mr. Hall, born in 1943 in Australia, has had his own architectural firm in Singapore since 1979. He is known for his tactile approach to design. He believes that the space around us should elevate our senses. In this “experiential architecture”, says Kerry Hill, “the choice of materials is central to our design process. A hierarchy usually exists within the composition of materials for each project. How these materials are connected is informed by one material paying respect to another. Our desire for exactitude is fundamental.” *
