"How to Throw a Super Fun, Super Cheap Event" is the subtitle here, so we're not talking extravagance here. We're talking good ideas like throwing a retro party where you play pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and musical chairs.
A few other fun, budget-friendly ideas:
• Throw a costume party so parents can use that Halloween costume one more time.
• It can't get much simpler than taping a roll of butcher paper up on the wall and giving the kids paint and brushes- *do make sure that wall is covered well!
• Have a birthday parade! Have kids bring their trykes, little toy cars, and wagons; decorate them, and take the procession around the neighborhood. Now that's a procession we'd love to see going through our neighborhood.

The biggest hit ever at one of our parties was a jumping contest. Seriously. Even the lone dad at the party got into it. We laid two jump ropes parallel to each other on the ground and everyone jumped from one side to the other. We'd inch the ropes apart and jump back to the other side. Now we have to play this game at every party and it never fails to get goofy.
