amazing work!!
I know you don't know about it because it is just out, but I have written a book called Designing Your Perfect House: Lessons from an Architect. I would love it if you and/or some of your readers would check it out and let me know what you think.
The book covers house design from the overall philosophy of design through pre-design planning, etc. I talk a lot about why some houses work and others just don't.
You can learn more about my book (and me, the author) at www.designingyourperfecthouse.com.
I wasn't impressed by the not-so-big house books. Sarah Susanka definitely has a bigger idea about small than I do.
I'm surprised not to see Natural Remodeling for the Not-So-Green House. Invaluable resource for us.
Living Large in Small Spaces is basically just (very good) photos of apartments and other spaces. More than half of the 33 homes are 600 ft and under; each one has a floor plan (most look drawn by the resident(s) themselves); and a large majority look like they are lived in by people of respectable but not very wealthy means. It is not an Architectural Digest porno for coffee tables.
I have returned to it many times--to show things to friends, to remind myself of how that hand-cranked pulley bed works, and just for inspiration.
It is a small-scale book, as well, so you can actually sit comfortably with it while you browse.
I really can't recommend it enough. (http://www.amazon.com/Living-Large-Small-Spaces-Expressing/dp/0810991055/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239336384&sr=8-1)
