260 sq. ft. for $900/month!

You know the rental market here in Los Angeles is becoming unreasonable when someone's 260 sq. ft. tool shed sized guesthouse (albeit a very lovely tool shed with ocean views) is being offered for $900/month in Echo Park. What next, a subletted dog house in Highland Park for $385/month?

damn right! I can not believe how rediculous LA area rent is getting - has no one heard of AFFORABLE housing? At least this place seems attractive, I cannot believe that so many landlords charge top $$ for places that are truely dumps, and in bad neighborhoods to boot.

Echo Park is particularly overpriced. When I was apartment hunting in Echo Park a little more than a year ago, tiny 2BR apartments with no parking for $2200 were the norm. I wound up in Silverlake, paying $1950 a month for a 2BR/2BA townhouse with hardwood floors, a view of Griffith Observatory, w/d, f/p and d/w. Still not cheap, but way more value for the money than Echo Park.

Um, that would be cheap in the Bay Area. How depressing.

I looked at a glorified tool shed for rent in Santa Monica.

The Craigslist ad claimed to have a murphy bed. When I got there, the "murphy bed" was a fold from the wall cot (narrower than a twin bed and very much like a prison cot.

He wanted $850 utilities! It was less than 200 square feet.

that place was on Craigslist maybe a year-ish ago for way cheaper. its crazy how expensive it is to live here...but im one of the lucky ones that found a great place in Highland Park before the rents went up...like they're doing right now...

Wait... where's that listing for the sublet on the doghouse?! I want to rent that space!
