We've heard rumblings about The Container Store's 2-Bin Recycle Center before, so we checked it out in the store this weekend. Read on to see if we found it worthy...
Our first impression: not so great. Grab the pull, which is integrated into the door, and there's a definite side-to-side wobble as the bin flips out. And while the sign says the finish is supposed to be easy to clean, we'd worry about grime getting under the lip of the pull... and on the rest of the finish. There's a slight leather grain stamped into the metal; it's probably there to hide scratches, but it seems like it would catch dirt.
Opening the bins is also a noisy process: the plastic tubs inside are slightly too small to fit snugly, so they bang against the sheet metal door and make quite a racket. On the plus side, the bins are easy to remove.
Our verdict: for a price fast approaching two hundred bucks, we were expecting the details to be better resolved. Sure, it gets the job done, but we're looking forward to version 2.0 of this particular gadget.

LOL! Almost $200 for this piece of plastic? Come one folks... Let's not create more waste in order to RECYCLE!
I went in there looking for something like this last summer - I was surprised there was nothing like this back then. But 160.00! Getoutahere.
Looking for trash bins for home I was shocked by the cost, I don't understand how most of the ones out there are now $100 with a suprising number over $200, simplehuman stuff has taken over and while good aren't THAT good. I ended up chosing a simple roung chrome pushstep one for $25 from a discount store... looks the same as many 2-3 times the price and thats just ridiculous
Why not buy the Ikea recycle bins? Starting at around $12 a bin depending on the size they have served us well in our home and business.
i just decided to use 2 reusable grocery bags (like the green fabric ones at Whole Foods) and ensure they're emptied daily. total cost = $2, they match, and they're washable. no noisy metal, and don't leak 'cuz I lined them with a piece of tarp, which makes them stand up.
