One of the pieces I love the most about this DIY project, is the opportunity to reuse plastic that you may have laying around your apartment. The Juice Jug planter's lines add points of interest, and little deli containers or large plastic storage bins can all be repurposed equally well. It seems like there is so much excess plastic that can be immediately repurposed into useful items around the house that recycling it isn't as appealing as the creative opportunities it provides. I also love how she added stripes and color to transform the cement from rocky and ruddy into pops of color around her home.
At Re-Nest, we love new ideas on how to find posh planters and reuse items around the house, like packaging, and transform them into gorgeous planters and window displays.
Any more ideas on what types of plastic containers you could use to create interesting cement planters?

Too kind Re-Nest, this was a fun project! I made candleholders too with the same method! You're right, these are a great way to use your ordinary plastic grocery store containers!

Thanks for the feature!
Here's a concrete planter I made using a styrofoam box that was used to ship food to me. (I had joined my local charcuterie's meat-of-the-month club). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v149/iheartmyTHO/Planters/DSCN0983.jpg You can't tell too well in this photo, but I did add some bits of green broken glass from some wine bottles to the cement-sand mixture. In order to see the bits of glass, I had to wet polish the planter after it had cured.
i love Centsational Girl, but she seriously makes me look bad, i simply can not keep up with her! LOL
I have book marked so many of her posts and gone back to her blog time and time again for project advice. she is amazing.
