As the holidays approach, the number of dinner parties we're invited to increases each week. We always struggle to come up with a hostess gift that is a bit more unique than a bottle of wine. We spied a few ideas (including this Candy Cane Amaryllis) we like in the latest VivaTerra catalog. They're a little pricey; but, if your hostess is a good friend, these could double as holiday gifts as well.

The Candy Cane Amaryllis ($39). Everything's included here (even a planter made from 100% recycled newspaper and straw fiber material) so that this beautiful bulb can bloom.

Amethyst and Citrine Crystal Ornaments (set of 12 - $44). These take us back to elementary school and our (uber-nerdy) rock and crystal collection. A nice twist on traditional ornaments.

Organic Culinary Herb Wreath ($65). This one is a little on the expensive side. But it's so cool. A wreath made out of organic marjoram, dill, thyme, sage, lavender, anise, cinnamon sticks, yarrow, and chili peppers. Just clip off what you need for dinner!
