Hosting a baby shower can be overwhelming - themes, finger foods, crepe paper, crudite, etc. For all the hard work, just give people what they want. It's simple, easy and a snap for others to pitch in and help out. Just give them milk and cookies.
There aren't many kids who don't love a tall glass of milk accompanied by cookies on the side. Adults are the same. Unless you plan on serving a full meal at your baby shower, try this simply serving cookies and milk instead. Sure a fruit plate and small veggies on skewers might be healthier, but a few cookies won't kill you either.
Here are three reasons to love a milk & cookies baby shower:
• Convenience: You can make all the cookie dough in advance and freeze it off as you have time. No rush, no stress, just a casual weekend or evening and you're done. Baking can be done in one mass event and with extra cookie sheets and filling your oven, it can be accomplished rather quickly too.
• Simplicity: Yes, finger foods are great. But there's a great deal of planning, purchasing of small ingredients, assembly, and brain power in general that cookies don't involve. They also don't require refrigerator space to keep cool and won't melt in the heat at a park in the summer. Easy peasy.
• Everyone loves milk & cookies: Even if you don't like a specific type of cookie, there's sure to be something for everyone. You can even work around specific needs and make something gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, or egg free depending on the needs of your guests.

I was just at a wedding that did a chocolate chip cookie tower with baby food jars filled with delicious milk for dessert. It was AWESOME!
That is cute. Although I do like booze at my baby showers.
I agree with LawyerMel. Real food and booze is the only fair trade off for having to attend a baby shower...
LOL Some people serve booze at baby showers?!!
My Milk and Cookies baby shower was AMAZING!

Wow! If you click through to the actual party post, it's pretty impressive how they rolled with the theme. That "make your own cookie mix" party favor station is pretty clever!
I think that this would be awesome! You could create savoury cookies as well (cheddar/thyme shortbreads; peanut butter bacon) and still have cocktails or other drinks that aren't milk based. I like milk just fine, but I don't know if I could drink only milk for an afternoon.
Loved this so much, I hosted a milk & cookies baby shower! See how it turned out here:
