It's that time of year. The world is in bloom, and flowers are everywhere: in window boxes, in your garden, growing wild by the side of the road. You could grab some of those beauties and pop them in a vase to enjoy them in your home — or you could take it a step further with one of these simple summer crafts using flowers. These would be fun weekend crafts to make with your kids, or with a few friends if you haven't got any kids. You're never too old to appreciate flowers.
The only bad thing about flowers is that they don't last forever... but you can use this fun technique involving watercolor paper and a hammer to extract the pigments from flowers and make a piece of art that won't wilt or fade.
Or try this: make a painting using flowers are your paintbrush. Pick up lots of different varieties and sizes of blooms to make things more interesting.
And finally, here's a neat trick for making really pretty ice cubes — add edible flowers. These would be fun for a party, in cocktails, or just as a way to beautify a glass of water. This post has a list of edible flowers to get you started.
Thanks for watching, and happy crafting!
