Why I use color: I once read that your space is your third skin and should reflect who you are. I love color, the way it brightens a room and adds life to a space. It adds an element of surprise and this bathroom captivates all who enter. It's fun and unexpected and best of all, we did this renovation ourselves. Mosaic is not only a great way to incorporate all your favorite, colors but it is an excellent way to recycle odds and ends from old projects.
2 good color tips:
1. Use color to lead from one room to another and marry different elements from each room. It's calming and makes sense to the eyes.
2. Use color to frame a room, give it order and punch it up a notch. Look in your closet for inspiration. Most likely the colors in the clothes you wear will make you comfortable in your home environment.
2 good color resources:
1. I love Benjamin Moore paints, great palette and quality. The quickest and most inexpensive way to improve a space is painting.
2. Home decor magazines are a great resource for color. Cut out pictures that appeal to you and over time it will define your taste and preferences.

I love it. It is so fun. I have always wanted something like this somewhere in my home. Can I ask, as a floor is it hard to clean? Did you do it yourself?
The floor is nice and all, but what does the rest of the room have to do with it?
Are those the Kohler Memoirs sink and toilet?
Coolest. floors. ever. But charlene is right - whats going on in the rest of the room?
your floor is absolutely gorgeous! love it.
the rest of the bathroom is also very nicely done but would love to see some pops of the other colors from your floor in accessories.
overall beautifully done.
thank you for sharing your home. :-)
i think the floor is amazing! maybe you could go a bit deeper with the walls, though. i think they'd be beautiful painted the blue that you've got in your floor (it would be a little darker, but with most of the wall taken up by white tile, I think you'd still be able to retain the brightness of the room. and it would be maaaaahhhhhvelous.)
super duper....with all that color on the floor, you don't need much else on the walls.
I love it...so completely original. A true work of art. Love, love love!!!
Thanks for the comments. I agree with hdtex, the floor offers so much that I purposely gave it the priority for overall design. It is a dark room so a darker color would have mutted the floor.
Also, our condo is full of color that compliments the floor. As I said earlier, your colors should lead you through your entire space. Every color in this floor is represented in the adjoining rooms.
It's hard to express with just two photos. Thanks for your comments. I appreciate you taking time to post your thoughts.

That floor is the coolest.
I think your floor is incredible. I see that the wall paint is a color that was taken from the floor. I think for purposes of this contest, or at least for a better photo, had you selected a different color from the floor the walls would pop and the room would be a WOW room, plus a few strategic spots of color elsewhere.
What I most like is that this is the first room in the contest I've seen where the floor is the driving element, and that's interesting.
I really love the color and design of the floor. An insta-finalist in my book!
I love the floor. For all those righteous folks out there who say that the AT'ers criticize the original entries where people have made a bunch of the stuff themselves, well this is an example of something homemade and well-made.
this floor is pretty amazing, and the residents could keep changing the room around this feature.
great job guys!
The mosaic is a real treat, I'd like to see more bold color and art in the rest of the bathroom.
I am absolutely STUNNED that you did that floor yourself. It is so skillful. Morocco is known for its mosaics but really, yours is right up there with them and more original.
Lovecraft wrote about this bathroom.
The fact that I am generally a minimalist and that I really dig this floor says to me that this is done really well.
The colours are great- what an awesome bathroom!
I like this, but maybe not for a bathroom floor, I'd hate to be drunk and try to throw up in the toilet, I'd pray I'd hit the porcelin GOD and not that beautiful floor! Maybe in a foyer, swimming pool, or Kitchen
debby, my thoughts exactly. i feel hungover just looking at that floor. omg dizzy, where's the--
your bathroom kills all of the other bathrooms in this contest. what a creative idea; to splash the bathroom floor with such color and texture so you don't have to go through the hassle of decorating the walls. people trying to decorate their bathrooms end up cluttering them with useless junk and the end result is a cramped and unflattering box. what a creative use of color!
All your comments are really interesting. As for Debby, I didn't design this bathroom around the idea of being hungover, so far no problem. I don't get sick often and when I do, art comforts the soul.
Gab the Scab gets the entire concept. With a strong element like this floor, the rest of the room can remain simple and ucluttered.
Yes, the sink and toilet are the Memoirs by Kohler.
And as for cleanliness, this floor is a champ to clean and it hides dirt very well. I would put another mosaic floor in my next bathroom, absolutely.
A delightful ornamentation of floor space. Inspiring!
