Why I use color:
I use color because Navajo White is very, very depressing. . .
Really, I use color because I am a highly visual person, and it's a fabulous way to show (off) your personality. I have a very in-your-face sense of style, and strong color is a great way to get that across. On that note however, it's very easy to go to the paint store and buy a can of red paint, but the trick is getting the RIGHT red, or the right orange, not too bright, not too muddy, etc. . . .
. . .I have been painting bold colors in my rooms for as long as I can remember -- when I was around 12 years old, I painted my room "Flamingo Pink" with wild white stripes on some of the walls (were my parents crazy)??? Turns out, green has been the universal winner for me.
Color is Powerful (does that make power colorful)?
2 good color tips:
1. Look closely. Great color is everywhere. Old dishes, broken tile, faded book covers, green apples, a bottle of Pellegrino, vintage clothing, vegetables, bubblegum. . .I could go on. . .
2. When choosing colors, my advice is: Love it or change it.
2 good color resources:
1. I always look at packaging. Labels, cans, boxes, bags, and my favorite: gift wrap; are all fun color resources.
2. Pantone Color Swatch books. And Crayons.
