Name: Brandy
Location: Chicago, IL
Size & Type: 570 sq. ft. one bedroom

Favorite resource: Store: Dharma Trading Co. for dyes to make any darn color fabric I want. Product: Command Adhesive hooks.

Pitch: Ambidextrous design: Comfort and function. Functionally, my place is uber-organized to keep all the hundreds of tools and materials I need to live as an artist and entrepreneur.

Pitch continued:
For instance the "cutting jar" holds 23 items in 9 categories of implements (fabric, paper, rotary, xacto, etc). Nutso or brilliant, having a place for everything allows me to make drawings, prints, quilts, build my site, run my business, cook, clean, learn, relax, entertain. Comfort-wise, there's color, pattern, texture everywhere. Non-fussy spaces to curl up or stretch out. Workspaces for creating, a window seat for daydreaming.

Your favorite element:
The 20 15"x15"x15" storage cubes I bought 10 years ago. I decorated each one differently with loads of color, pattern and texture. Over the years they've been fantastic, modular storage. They've worked as a base of my futon, as a wall, running along walls, as towers. Now they tie together two walls to help define my "living room."
