You may have heard about the great area rug debate between me and my husband. It's ongoing, but I'm shopping anyway (though I won't be purchasing anytime soon). But, for those of you who have the same taste as your mate or live alone, hop to! Here are four basic finds, all of which are relatively affordable flat-weave rugs, to bookmark if you're on the hunt:
Each of these is a wonderful neutral base from which to build a room:
• 8x10 Oasis Flat Weave Rug at West Elm, $650
• 5x7 Clyde Wool Rug at Plow & Hearth, $750
• 8x10 Eileen Fisher Eventide Wool/Cotton Rug at Garnett Hill $598
• 8x10 Chunky Braided Wool Rug at Restoration Hardware, $1395

Perhaps there are other basic wool rugs you can show us that are not as hate-worthy.
I'm not sure I'd call those "affordable" (even with a "relatively" qualifier in front). I've only spent over $100 on one piece of furniture so far (though of course everything was bought second hand).
Go to a carpet store and ask them to show you wool remnants. Have the remnant cut to size and bound. I have a great 8x10 and it was under $250.
