I tend to take on ambitious DIY projects and I often look for information that will help me get the project done. Here are four DIY desk project patterns that will help you know which materials to buy, which tools to have on hand and provide assembly instructions.Anna White's Pottery Barn Chantham inspired desk
Anna White's plans include a materials list, a cut list, full plans and views of a 3-D model that will guide assembly. Ashley at Shanty2Chic tried the plans and posted about her results.
DIY Network's desk under the stairs
The DIY network has elaborate plans for a desk including shelves that fits in a space under stairs. The instructions are in narrative form so you'll have to dig through them to make cut lists and a materials list.
Neal Gronset's mission style laptop desk
If you are familiar with the free software, Google Sketchup, you'll have access to an entire library of plans in the 3-D Warehouse. Neal Gronset's desk has dimensions built into the model. Familiarity with SketchUp is encouraged if you are taking this project on.
Monitor riser from about.com
While technically not a desk, this monitor riser will help make your desk more ergonomic. The plans from about.com include a tool list, material list and expected time to complete the project: 12 to 15 hours.
