For some of you, Labor Day Weekend means a last chance to soak up the sun; for others, those three days beg to be filled with some exciting new project. From our video archives, here are four DIYs to tackle this weekend.

1. Paint a pattern on the wall.

Mark Chamberlain, Apartment Therapy's resident color and painting expert, shows you how. (Tired of chevrons? These instructions are good for almost any kind of pattern you can imagine.)

2. Create a built-in display wall for art.

Interior designer Rebecca Robertson shares a simple strategy for making a changeable display for art. It's inexpensive and easy to create, and can be as big (a whole wall!) or as small as you like.

3. Make this industrial lamp.

This one is a little more complicated, but the results are very exciting. In this video, maker John Gleeson Connolly shares how to make this handmade light. Want more detailed instructions? The extended version of the video is here.

4. Make a cipher wheel (and send messages in code!).

Did you secretly want to be a spy when you were a kid? Yeah, me too. Get some grown-up thrills when you create and send messages with a homemade cipher wheel.

Happy weekend, and happy crafting!
