Is it too kiss-A&*ey to say apartmenttherapy.com - even if it's true?
What inspired you?
We live in a pre-war building but our tastes are more modern - so to create our beautiful, functional home we stripped the paint off of the doors and molding and then modernized the kitchen and bathroom. Our color choices were based on wanting to brighten our living room (color: pale avocado) and make our bedroom cozy (color: million dollar red).
...Two people living in a <400 sq ft apartment is no picnic - we made use of our high ceilings by building closets and cabinets to the top and spending time to find the perfect furniture to fit the pre-war "nooks" we had to work with.
If you live in a pre-war, work on improving what you have - strip the molding and doors of the 100+ years of paint, invest in redoing the floor - it is all worth it
