Name: David and Alli
Location: Downtown, NYC
Type: Rented 1-bedroom apt.
Why I use color:
It helps make our apartment a home. Living in an apartment with all white walls leaves you feeling transient, that at any point you could pull your pictures off the wall and it would look like any other apartment.
2 Good color tips:
1. Colors named after fruits and vegetables give you something else to talk about when people come over. They look and say "Oh, I like your green." To which we respond, "It's Dill Pickle." Deeeeelicious.
2. Oh, just paint it on. What's the worst that can happen? You paint over it? I mean, really.
2 good color resources:
1. Benjamin Moore's Mini Paint Samples. The easiest way to decide if a color will work in your room is to paint it, and if they're willing to make a sample of the color you like, it'll probably be ok. And they're only 3 bucks. A bargain!
2. Other people's badly painted apartments. You may not know what colors you do want, but it's very easy to discover what colors you don't.
