Name: C
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Type: 1 bedroom apartment in complex built in 1960s/70s, owned.

Why I use color:
To create a mood. I wanted to create a sense of warmth, coziness in an otherwise charmless white box (combination sitting area/dining area before paint). The most dramatic way I could transform this little box was to paint its walls a deep medium red (color is Behr mineral red). Instant warmth.

2 Good color tips:

1. Red (favorite color) can look good with a variety of woods, light to dark, and metal finishes-- almost neutral.

2. Color & texture - A combination of different textures, materials in a similar range of colors also makes
things more interesting.

2 Good color resources:

1. (Intuitive): Your closet - what is worn most often and what color is it?

2. (Analytical): _The Interaction of Color_ by Joseph Albers. The most carefully thought-out approach to the optical effects of different color combinations.
