Waking up early isn't fun for a lot of people and that's completely understandable. Days off from work allow many people to sleep in later than normal and that feeling is oh so good, but waking up early becomes unusually easier when there's a somewhat attractive device that is screaming for you to GET UP!
Here's a roundup of some alarmingly awesome alarm clocks that should help make your morning wake up call a little less detrimental on your mood:

I love wood alarm clocks! I have one similar to the last photo
I also like this mid-century design from Tivoli Audio that I first saw in the Parker Meridian in NYC.

Anyone else but me simply use the alarm function on their cellphone?
I like using my ipod dock so I can pick which motivational get-up-and-get-going song I want to wake up to. I admit it's not the most fashionable-looking option.
My husband gets me up - best wakeup ever (he has to be up about an hour before me). otherwise I would just use my iPhone...yet now I wish I needed an alarm clock!
I use my cellphone like bepsf does. I'm also wondering what the sound of those clocks are like; if the sound is nasty there's no way in my morning hell that I would ever allow such a device into my bedroom. In that state of mind I couldn't care less about the look of an alarm clock, but what is of utmost importance is the sound.
My husband changes his sound once in a while to something utterly abominable - such as an icehockey tune that he sported over weeks, making the experience of waking up complete argh for yours truly, or that warning honk of a container ship (yes, the person who came up with that one should just go away), which actually almost gave me a heart attack. And why is that? DH never hears his alarm, so it's on close to max volume.
Sound matters. And more so than looks.
I have the ALBA and love it. It's simple to use and nice looking. As for using a cell I think I would forget to grab my phone every day if I didn't just leave it in my purse.
Hah, I was just thinking this morning how much I hate my alarm clock. I agree completely with ninakk - sound is the most important part of the clock, not appearance. I don't even look at the clock when I wake up.
"Sound matters. And more so than looks."
Indeed - I have my iPhone alarm set to wake me with music from a harp (Standard tone, No app necessary)
...tho I certainly wouldn't mind the PA tones that precede the onboard midday announcements by a cruiseship's Captain!
I have the numbers clock... Looks fantastic on my mantle. I guess I knew it had an alarm feature, but I have been using my iPhone to wake up for a few years now... Much easier.
I need to set multiple alarms to get up and value function of the clock over appearance. My most useful clock is the Shake Awake alarm clock that I found after Googling "alarm clock" and "deaf."
My cell phone is my alarm clock like it seems to be for several commentators. My cell phone takes up about half the space of a deck of cards, so pretty practical.
