Sometimes it's the simplest things that make all the difference. Take a binder clip, for instance: you might not think you have any use for them anymore if you've gone paperless, but these little contraptions are multi-functional workhorses. Check out these 5 other uses for binder clips:

2 Keep kitchen sponges dry and grime-free! [Via LifeHacker]
3 Get every last drop out of your toothpaste. [Via Funny or Die]

5 Keep small linens, like napkins, neat and organized. [Via Real Simple]
Do you any great reuse ideas for the binder clip?

Sheex Bedding
I use them to hang tank tops on hangers. either directly on the garment (if it's a t-shirt) or on the outside of the shoulder straps for nicer garments.
I use them to keep my calendars on the wall - those little holes always seem to get torn. There's a zillion uses for these handy little guys. I always have one with me. They've saved me from some embarrassing wardrobe mishaps, too.
The first idea, keeping the cables organized is brilliant! I constantly have to do gymnastics across the desk, often holding a flashlight, because some blasted cable thingy has fallen. This is just the thing! Thank you!!!
They're also fabulous for hanging kid art to dry on a clothesline (better than clothespins in my opinion)
we use the all metal ones, to hang artwork on the walls, easy to change and only one nail required
These are all great ideas.
I was honestly expecting to be disappointed when I opened this post. :) Color me impressed.
Really great tips, thanks!
I just started using two to keep my trash bag from falling down, works perfectly on the straight sides on the trash can.
And as just about every comment on that second Lifehacker article points out, wet sponge + metal binder clip = rust. Also, some coloured binder clips will leave streaks on paper, so they're probably not the best choice for your linens.
Not to say that I don't use binder clips around the house - they're great for keeping bags closed.
I use them for hanging calendars, or hanging anything I want up on the wall.
My favorite use is in the kitchen to hold bags closed. They're on everything! Bags of rice, cereal, chips, frozen vegetables, etc. They're a lot cheaper than "chip clips" and they come in a range of sizes for different jobs.
The cable-catch one in the first pic.. that's a truly great and fresh (to me) idea!
I also use a binder clip to set the mail out for the mail carrier to pick up. I clip the mail to the top edge of the mailbox, tucked under the lid.
They make excellent chip clips.
I love these ideas. So clever
saw this somewhere recently: binder clip to clip grocery list and coupons to shopping cart.
Love the iPhone stand idea!
The clips on the napkins are called bulldog clips, if you're looking to order them somewhere. Wow, I was a receptionist too long - I shouldn't know the names for all those little things.
My co-worker uses a binder clip to clip his pant leg so it doesn't get caught in his bike chain.
I keep binder clips in my toiletry bag to clip together curtains in hotel rooms that don't quite close.
The large ones work for hanging up exterior christmas lights on our cabin eaves.
Brilliant? that's pushing things a bit...
I use them to keep my (non-leather) belts organized. I roll them up into circles and then clip a side with them so they do not come unrolled in their drawer.
i love all of these ideas - especially the cable organizer! thanks!
I got the idea from AT to use them to clip non-disposable microfiber cloths to a Swiffer mop. It works great.
The cable organizer idea is amazing!
I use binder clips all the time at home for closing bags of cereal, chips, etc. I've found that things stay fresh for longer if you fold in the top 2 corners of the bag to form a triangle, and then fold that down a few times, and then clip that folded up bundle. Binder clips are the perfect size to keep them closed.
I especially like the idea for holding cables in place. Oh how nice the world will be when everything goes wireless.
They left out using binder clips to hold up stretched out pajama pants! (a little bumpy to sleep on though :-)
I love the cable idea, and the Swiffer - thanks!!!
This won't apply to many but... I built a cabinet-style cage (sometimes called a grotto-style) habitat for my pet rats. I lined the different levels with heavy-duty plastic shelf liner, but the edges curled up and debris got underneath. So, I clipped the liner to the levels along each side with a binder clip and then popped off the little handles (just squeeze each side and slip it out of the slots on the clip) so they wouldn't catch little rat feet.
Before I built the cabinet-style habitat, I used binder clips to secure additional levels to their standard wire cage, to hang toys, treats, hammocks, etc.
Pretty inexpensive solution.
We used some jumbo-sized clips to hang a quilt on the wall without making any holes.
