Visit any building salvage shop in your town and you're likely to come across quite a stash of doors. Even old, solid, paneled doors can be had for a steal and there are so many ways you can use them:
- weekly planner (how-to at Donation 2 Decor)
- headboard
- dining table
- art
- entry mirror

These are all awesome, can you provide how-to directions for at least some? Thanks!
What a GREAT idea! The wheels in my brain are spinning away...
You cold probably use a door as a great looking headboard.
Cute! I like the entry mirror the best.
My favorite's are 1-4. 5 being nice but the rest are more Urban. Thanks for the ideas, going to present #4 to a client today. The doors also make for great room dividers. I viewed the best example at M Herny's in Edgewater. Take a look, it is inspiring.

We have a great door and a large set of shutters that we found at a salvage shop. We plan to use one or the other as a headboard over our bed after we seal them to prevent paint chipping on our pillows. But we have no idea how to mount it! any ideas that won't leave our wall full of holes?
We turned an old door into a dining table last year. It took a lot of patience to clean up the door and get the stain right, but we're loving how it turned out. You can check out the finished project here:

I would re-purpose the red door in the 4th photo and place mirrors in each section and hang horizontally on the wall in a long hallway.
Did it!!! My partner refinished an 1800s door and we're using it as our dining table now!
Pictures here!
I've seen tables and headboards out of old doors before--but I looove the chalkboard idea. Now I need an old door.
I actually found one once, a while back, but couldn't get it into my car. Must have been pretty comical trying to shove it in the sunroof.
We have a door that I love - my mom found it on one of her famous dumpster diving expeditions. My husband; however, hates it. We used to use it as an entryway piece, similar to #5, but more recently, it's a lovely place to hang my giant magnolia wreath.
I haven't exactly done a post on the door, but you can see it in the background here: http://southerndisposition.blogspot.com/2010/10/saturdays-are-for.html
I'm loving the photo art idea :)
I love all of these ideas! I've seen the door turned table and the door headboard, but I have never seen the door chalkboard. I have to say I can't wait to have a larger place so I can implement this DIY idea.
My husband and I currently "rehabbing" two very old and very solid closet doors to use as desktops. It's amazing how thick and durable they are. The cost of having glass tops made was a bit higher than expected, though.
I love the table!
I did the headboard pictured (minus the attached side tables) a few years ago. I think it was a DYI from Home magazine. Turned out very cool. the top cap is a 1" by 4' board. It was attached to a regular metal bed frame with two more 1 by 4s mounted to the back of the door with holes drilled in the appropriate place to screw the headboard onto the bed frame. Careful measuring was all it took.
A friend of mine salvaged a door for me, cut off the last panel, and it was the perfect size for a coffee table. I stained it black, and screwed in some legs: the black legs from an IKEA Lack coffee table ($10 at the time). So great, until we had a toddler around and put it in storage (needed space in the living room for playing).
My friend had another door for himself, and he made a coffee table using a solid wood kit from Lowe's.
