If you're hosting friends and family at your house for Thanksgiving, it might be easiest to use place cards. This not only can keep exes and fighting cousins apart, it also to makes everyone feel special and welcome! It's always a good feeling seeing your name printed somewhere — even if it's at a family dinner.
If you're a wine drinking family the Chalkboard Wine Glasses DIY from Just Short of Crazy is rather genius! Simply spray paint the bottom of the wine glass with chalkboard paint and write each guest's name on it. Not only will they feel special but no one will have to worry about losing their glass.
A super inexpensive place setting DIY is the Apple Place Setting from The Wedding Directory. Purchase one apple per guest, write their names on a piece of thin paper and pin it into the apple. That's about as easy as it gets!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I LOVE the chalkboard dipped glassed, but I wonder about how they'd need to be washed.
Chalkboard paint idea is great for those who entertain a lot! (I'm guessing without actual knowledge that the paint would need hand washing... Wouldn't use it on anything too nice, anyhow.)
The other ideas -- I don't ever plan to entertain a big enough group that I need placecards, but they are all witty! (Love the menu card idea -- it would be a great way to alert guests who might have food allergies, for one thing... "includes peanuts" or whatever)
The glasses are super cute! I'm gonna try this for "girl's night" soon!
Yeah. I want chalk dust rubbing off all over my nice party clothes.
But I love the printed menu - napkin wrapper!
LOVE THE GLASS IDEA. GOING TO USE AT MY NEXT EVENT.
Put a chalkboard on it!
Lol! Is there any surface safe from chalkboard paint?!?
"Lol! Is there any surface safe from chalkboard paint?!?"
Apparently not. I think I'll chalkboard my toilet seat and see what happens.
Why didn't they put chalkboard paint on the pumpkins?
@House Voyeur That is an excellent question. Probably because they'd be hard to write on.
Chalkboard paint makes (almost) everything better!
I've seen glasses like that at Pier 1 I think...
I may use the menu napkin ring at a dinner party soon. I'm hosting a Bavarian Christmas dinner party and plan to put out a menu written in German (with English translation) to help with the theme.
I made a set of the chalkboard wine glasses and gave them away at a white elephant party last night, and they were a hit! There were one of the most popular gifts that kept getting "stolen." Thanks AT for posting thE project!
