I wish I had a house, so I could have a garden of my own! In the meantime, I have been eyeing the potted herb plants at Whole Foods that I could put in my kitchen windowsill. It would be great to have fresh herbs for cooking!

If you have any window, you could pop a shelf under the window frame and set your garden there.
I imagine you could just use a sharpie on some paint stirrers instead of spending $26 on the 'Herb garden markers'

I have my son write the plants' names on tongue depressors or popsicle sticks.
An ever cheaper way to make your own good looking plant markers is to flatten out spoons then use metal stamps to stamp in the plant names. I did a tutorial on this here: http://eyespydiy.blogspot.com/2011/04/upcycled-spoon-garden-markers.html
