We're all for recycling and repurposing, especially when the results are as fabulous as this. See what each of the above items is made from (a few even surprised us), after the jump!
We came across these great home decor solutions over at Recyclart (where there's all sorts of great finds!). Details for each item are listed below.
Featured Left To Right
• Outdoor Shapes: These bold circles on the wall are painted, discarded satellite dishes. Story here.
• Bookends: Made from vintage cameras, dominoes and mah jong tiles, they'll hold a few books up and look great doing so. They were sold originally in this Etsy store!
• Moveable Gardening Cart: Obviously this is a shopping cart, there's little mystery there, but this would allow you to grow plants out all sides of the basket increasing your garden size while decreasing your squarefootage. Story here.
• Trashcan: Made entirely from bottlecaps, there's lots of other great furniture pieces and a how to video here.
• Entertainment Center: Made from a decent grade wooden pallet (although you could make one of the same design rather inexpensively) and a couple of wheels, this is a great low tech (literally) design.

I like the first two and the last one -- but the third and fourth look cheap. I admire the creativity, though.
Funny I made the same TV stand out of pallets and super large casters when I was in college many moons ago.
I can't look at the shopping cart without thinking of trailer park chic. I'm not sure if that's a look I'd personally go for.
I have a satellite dish sitting in my shed. Yay!
At $95-$125 each, a shopping cart is sort of expensive for a garden. Of course, you could just steal one.
The brownies are great book ends. I think we will be at a point soon when digital cameras become decorative. Oddly, my original Kodak, from way back in 2001, still takes good pictures.
The others are quite clever...
But considering supermarkets have a chronic problem w/ shopping cart theft, and stolen shopping carts are the premier transport tool for homeless people - I wouldn't consider #3 in the least bit appropriate or aspirational.
I threw away two satelite dishes when we got our cabin...guilty...If only I thought they could look so fabulous.
Love the simple media center. I want to do a coffee table out of railroad ties sort of similar: http://www.modernests.com/2009/01/i-wish-i-thought-of-it-rustic-modern.html
he he. I agree with bepsf on #3. :)
when we bought our house, it "came with" a shopping cart. we actually used it for a few weeks, moving things about the yard and such and then returned it to the grocery store behind our house from whence it came. though it was handy at the time, i don't think we would have ever intentionally "owned" one.
The painted satellite dishes are fantastic.
Note to self: find discarded satellite dishes. Love that idea!
I freakin' love the satellite dishes... WOW - that's my favorite thing.. Also, I'm super into bookends right now, and the brownie camera ones are cute! I would skip the shopping cart because of other reasons listed by other commenters (and did you know that a lot of the homeless people in my Portland neighborhood have bikes with those little kiddo bike trailers?), I think the reused bottlecap idea could be fun, and I am a fan of reused pallets when it's done right.
I like that discarded satellite dishes, perfect for outdoor decoration. Indeed, an astonishing creation! ;)
