Name:Harriet, Due in DecemberLocation:Austin, TexasWhy I chose these colors for the nursery:
When it came time to start painting, we didn't know if it was going to be a boy or a girl and even if we had known, we didn't want the nursery to be scream "boy" or "girl".We choose a bright apple green as a starting point that would work for either sex which in turn dictated the secondary palette: Espresso for the chair and curtains, and white for the rug, doors, and dresser. The plan was to add pink accents if it was a girl, and orange if it was a boy. After finding out we were having a little Harriet, we added pink sheets, a pink Go-Go's poster and fuchsia changing pad covers for a little pop of accent color.
Two Good Color Tips:
Paint your doors. It's one of the easiest ways to add a punch of color especially for neutral rooms.
Put color in unexpected places. We haven't had time to get around to it yet, but have plans to pain the inside of Harriet's closet a shockingly bright shade of pink because unexpected pops of color are always fun.
Color(s) and brand(s) of paint used in the room:
The walls are all painted in Behr Japanese Fern; the doors are also Behr, in Cotton Fluff.
