These ideas are nice for moderately sized bathrooms, like the one pictured. But I don't think you really know what a small bathroom is like. I have a 5' x 5' bathroom. No room for a luxurious tub. No room for extra ledges on the walls (the door opens into the towel rack as it is).
My bathroom is only slightly larger than medenver - I bash me knee constantly on the vanity trying to get through the 15" wide space to get to the doorway. Luckily we're renting and it's temporary.

Seriously. This bathroom is not small. It has a full tub, a sink and a toliet (placed horizontally I might had which is not the case in really small bathrooms) and obviously room for someone to stand with a camera and not be IN the photos while they do it.
I think these are fabulous ideas for expanding this bathroom! I especially like the simplicity of the sink, plus, the all white color scheme helps give it a clean, fresh look!
I must agree with everyone, that bathroom look huge to my comparatively shoeboxed sized bathroom. I would kill for a bathtub.

All I can say is Kohler Greek. Its a four foot long, deep and just a little bit wider than usual tub. There is actually room for two in my 4x6 bathroom with this charmer. And yes, a small wall hung sink makes a big difference.
I had a bathroom smaller than 5 x 5 (it was really just a walled off corner of a studio apartment) but it still had room for a tub. We were just lucky the door opened outwards, or your would have to step in the tub just to pull the door open and get out... although thinking about how they crammed the toilet and sink in there, that might not even work either.
Is that a "tankless" toilet next to the sink?
Wow small bathrooms. I thought we had a small one at about 8' by 5'. We are renting so we are stuck with it though -- it does have a full sized tub (that the shower is in like most rentals), a toilet, and a sink with small vanity. Also a towel rack but the door opens onto it.
This is the second rental with a bathroom door that opens and nearly hits the sink or towel bar on the wall. Larger people tend to get trapped trying to open the door into the tiny bathroom in the wrong order of operations.
Small is when you have a "mini-tub" tucked into a corner (i.e., walls surround 3 sides), while on the other side of one wall is a mini-sink. Toilet is in front of both. Prob about 5'x4' altogether. We cut our shower curtain in half so that it is a proper fit in front the tub entrance.
Our tub is surrounded on three sides with the toilet next to it and then the sink next to it. It's can be very cramped trying to get ready in the morning - got to the point where we hung an additional mirror in the hallway outside it for the other person to comb hair, etc.
The lack of shower curtain also contributes to the openness -- normally they chop the room in half. But it's a bit impractical not to have one at all...
I got y'all beat so far -- my bathroom is 3'x4' (1m x 1.2m). Granted, it doesn't have a toilet, since I live in France and as is the norm, we have separate WCs (water closets). I had an even smaller one in my last place, and it *did* have a toilet!

MY bathroom is 14" x 19" !!! I have to shower, relieve myself AND wash myself in the specially made sink! take THAT!

Way to miss the point jamilkb! Apartment Therapy is getting out of touch. This is not a small bathroom to feature as a small bathroom for apartment dwellers and like more and more of their posts probably features unaffordable and unattainable products. I would not be shocked to learn the bathroom was designed by a team of professionals and the sink was cast by hand in Italy and is only available to purchase in a single showroom, by appointment, in Oslo.
My bathroom is 4x4 feet. A small bathtub, a toilet and no sink. Thankfully, there is a window and I get a lot of light. I live in a rental, but I changed the tiles from ghastly yellow to white and raised the ceiling by a foot. I love it now. It's small, but serene.

They many not have this exact sink, but they have many smart products for small bathroom (e.g., corner toilet and corner sink)

pxlchk1: wow, your bath is almost exactly like ours! I really like what you have done with it. Do you find cleaning a full wall of tile to be an issue? We're thinking about tiling all of our walls also.
My biggest piece of advice in a bathroom of any size is to put a mat down by the bathtub that is made to really absorb water. This helps eliminate the amount of water damage clean up needed in your bathroom.
