Forget expensive planters and pots and elaborate "indoor gardening systems". Really, all you need are some containers (repurposed is cool!) and someplace to put them, as these five gardens show.

Ercol Bar Stool
I had a thai pepper plant in an old pekoe tea tin and it was lovely.. until it started to rust and the paint bubbled. I would recommend re-using old plastic pots (all of mine came from garage sale "free" bins) and place them inside the tins.
