Could it be? Could we actually be missing the laundromat? Doubtful, but these laundry carts are sure looking appealing to us nonetheless:
• 1 Dandux laundry carts at Restoration Hardware, $129 - $229
• 2 Chrome Steel Laundry Butler at Organize-It, $100
• 3 Economy Laundry Cart at Material Handling Solutions, $79
• 4 Luxor Industrial Laundy Hamper, a big 'ol boy, at Global Industrial, $110
• 5 a cool cart/shelf combo from IVG Stores, $44
We also love this Steele canvas basket (above) as featured by Martha Stewart and our very own Sarah Rae in her dream bathroom.
Would you use a laundry cart in your home? Any ideas for one for something besides laundry?

Shaw's Original Fir...
We actually bought the Steele canvas basket after I saw a post on AT a few months ago. We LOVE it! It's sturdy with industrial wheels, which is the feature we were looking for. One con with the basket we bought is that it's a bit too low to pull to our laundry room, but we knew this when we bought it. Because of where we can store the basket, we had to keep it low. I'd definitely upgrade it into something taller if we should move out from our current place.
We have #2 and it's one of the best investments we've ever made. We can hang things right out of the dryer then wheel everything back up to the apt.
Regina - great list! This is a good addition, new from Pottery Barn a French Wire Hamper
Having our bathroom immediate above the laundry room in our house, and a space beside the rad, we cut the floor, & built a box to serve as a laundry chute. In the basement, a contractor fit a standard kitchen cabinet as the chute holding box. It's awesome. Got the idea from my cousin in Montreal whose laundry chute goes down 3 floors to the basement.
Oh, if only we had laundry at home. I actually really like the laundromat because we can do all the laundry in two hours.
Many of us live in a small houses and apartments...
Where would we keep one of these things???
I love my Blue Line triple sorter. It can fold up for storage, but most of the time it lives in my walk-in closet, makes it easy to sort my laundry as I go.
We actually bought our hamper from Crate and Barrel - it works flawlessy (great casters) and the grid makes even the messy laundry look neat. Love it!
(and to boot its $39, less than any above :) )
when I was younger I babysat (and did some laundry) for a family who had version like number 2. It was really lovely and made logistical sense in their house. I could wheel it out into the living room and fold while the child played.
wow I would have loved a #2 when I lived in an apartment. I hated going down to the basement to do laundry.
Here's one with a smaller footprint, but still industrial. It collapses, which is nice for moving.
