Poking around for Oscar party decorations, I took but one look at all the rolls of movie tickets, and I was SOLD. They are available in a range of beautiful and vibrant colors. And once unfurled, they offer almost endless material for making things. Check out these four ideas...
Dessert Stands: Using rolls of tickets, create tiered displays for pretty cakes and cookies. Use any bases you can find — like an upturned bowl or drinking glass — in a variety of heights. If you want to reuse these, cover the tickets with a couple coats of Mod Podge then seal with acrylic spray before gluing the rolls to the bases.
Paper Chandeliers: These extra large decorations are so colorful and easy to make. Perforated movie tickets make perfect strips to start with, without the need to cut endless paper until the cows come home. Check out the full DIY tutorial:
Photo Backdrops: This is probably the easiest decoration of all. Cut long strips from your rolls, and tape to an empty wall. They provide a textured background for photos.
Woven Table Runner: If you haven't tried weaving paper strips yet, this is a fun and easy craft. If you need inspiration for different patterns, check out the Origami Resource Center.
