But while many of them hint at the decade when I grew up, they have a decidedly more refined look. It might be because they've been reintroduced with a little more subtlety: neon on a neutral surface pales in comparison (in a good way) to the stop-light-yellow, oversized sweatshirt I wore to that party. And while the mention of a lavender rug with pink pillows might sound as chic as the overalls-clad Easter Bunny, it looks pretty and elegant in the room above.
Take a peek and share what you think: are you inspired to capture these trends in your home? Executed with a wee bit of restraint, they could make a fresh, definitely not-boring statement in any room.

I love this. I think that just a little neon, goes a long way!
Love the rainbow backed shelves. Although not so sure what they would look like without only white display items...
I have a friend that is having a neon colored wedding in September. :)
You had me at 'neon-themed slumber party in 1984'. :D
Neon oddly doesn't remind me of the 80's. I think a few years ago it took a different path of being modest (can neon BE modest?? Maaaybe). Would not work in my home, BUT, I'm open to painting neon in hideaway areas like a closet, or even the ugly garage!!!
I'm definitely not a large doses of neon type of person. In small doses paired with neutrals and more muted tones, it can really work!
Come to think of it @DownTheAvenue, my friend's wedding is bright blue and bright orange this June! The blue makes it a little less neon and helps it translate a little more too.
I thought pastels for spring were kind of a regular, annual thing?
I love that tangerine duvet cover! It's really not too expensive, either!
@handmadekate - maybe it will be a new trend? My friend's wedding is neons to the extreme, but only as accents... I am in the wedding party and am told to wear black with neon green accents (each pair gets their own neon color). Should be an interesting and FUN wedding - did I mention I am a lady and will be a groomsman?? At any rate, I do love splashes of neon in decor.
I LOVE the neon and bright colors that add a pop to any room or outfit! I work with teenagers at my church and I love their crazy colored shoes and shirts and bracelets.
I have recently started decorating my house and we purchased bright colored LPowell3rd on Pinterest
clearly this blog hates me. thats the 3rd comment that has been butchered.
