Sure, you may peek at your phone while on the toilet, but would you want it to actually control your toilet? Let's talk about it.

Smart home technology is so exciting in lots of ways and it's quickly becoming more and more accessible to anyone. Case in point: this New Waves smart toilet is sold at Costco. Maybe you would relish a toilet that has heated seats, an automatic flush and deodorizing capabilities. Maybe your toilet remembering to put the seat down when your husband forgets is your most radiant dream. Some models even play music!

Now, how would you feel about your toilet knowing as much about your health as, say, your doctor because it's monitoring both the frequency of your trips to the bathroom as well as your...ummm...results. That's right, a toilet can monitor and analyze your waste. Charming.

And then there was the 2013 Japanese hacking scandal...of a toilet. Yep, turns out the Satis smart toilet had a flaw in its Bluetooth code that allowed hackers to control toilets in the homes of anyone who had one! They weren't able to do much more than raise and lower the seat, change the settings and spray the bidet (!) but still, I think having your toilet hacked might feel pretty violating.

So, what's your verdict on this technology? Brilliant or bonkers? Weigh in!
