Looking for a particularly powerful, dramatic and sophisticated design element to add to your home? Consider the design delights of the black tile. Matte, shiny, big or small, there are lots of ways that black tiles can add to the gorgeous look of your home. We're showing you five ways today.

Tiny and matte
Use small matte black tiles on as many surfaces as possible to effect a look of serious modernism and drama. The small tiles create an energetic feel in the space, and the dark grout used above turns the tile into more of a texture for the surface. Seen on The Design Files.
On a surprising spot
Don't just keep to the kitchen and bathroom; use black tiles in surprising places for a sleek design punch in any room you need. This black tile fireplace surround is pretty gorgeous. Via Decorist via Simply Grove.
With a bit of shine
Matte black is seriously sleek, but a little shine never hurt any room. Like choosing a glossy paint finish for a room or furniture piece, glossy tiles will add a feel of glamour to a room, and when partnered with black tiles, add drama and intrigue. Spotted on Fantastic Frank.
It's hard to tell if these tiles came black or were painted black (the article on Design*Sponge mentions black chalkboard paint) but it brings up a good point. If your tiles aren't black to begin with and you don't want to start over with new ones, why not paint them black?
