It's getting rave reviews but how do you protect your brand new iPhone 4S? A case clearly makes sense but what kind? I know from hard-earned experience that soft cases look great but don't actually protect all that well. I've also succumbed to a very cool-looking bamboo design only to find it added what felt like 10 inches to my phone - the bulkiness finally drove me crazy and I went looking for a new case. I ended up with a hardy Speck black plastic fitted case which has served me well. But now, with a new phone on the scene it feels like just the right time to start looking at new cases. Here are five sturdy new designs worthy of the iPhone 4S.
1. Steampunk Nylon Case
This case design by Christina Westbrook was tested on her very own iPhone. She designed it with ample room in the camera area and easy access to all buttons, ports and controls. The laser work on the hardened nylon back leaves a jean-like texture that makes it easy to grip. Price: $74.992. Speck Fitted Rotary Phone Case
A hard plastic fitted case emblazoned with a rotary phone. Anyone remember them? Makes me smile every time I look at it. And I can vouch for the strength of Speck's cases. Mine has been dropped more time than I like to recall and the phone (a 4G) has yet to get even one scratch. Price: $44.903. CaseMate's Barely There Brushed Aluminum Case
Aircraft grade stainless steel is used in this sleek design. Sometimes you just want to let he design of the phone sing and this case allows just that. It closely mimics the curve of the phone - to the point that you barely notice it. Perfect for the minimalist. Price: $40.004. Luxe Lean Phase
Injection-molded polycarbonate is used to create this smoky semi-opaque hard shell with its graded color (also comes in blue, yellow and gray - but I like the pink). It has an oddly metallic look but a plush feel so that it wont slip out of your hand easily. Price: $24.995. Griffin +Threadless Watch the snow fall case
Love this collaboration between Threadless and Griffin that pairs original art from the community at Threadless with Griffin's awesome cases. This hard plastic black snap-on shell features an illustration by artist Cory Remjekse. Price: $34.95
