The holidays are but a memory and we're all ready to start fresh. January happens to be the customary time when retailers discount their bedding and bath supplies. Known as white sales, this is a great time to freshen up your essentials for two very important rooms — bed and bath.
• Cuddledown As part of their Winter White Sale, Cuddledown has discounted comforters – like this 1000 Fill Power European Goose Down Batiste Comforter – as well as bamboo towels, mattress pads and sleepwear.
• Pottery Barn This White Sale is stocked with a fairly wide selection of bedding and bath essentials. Shown here: Textured Organic Bath Rug, normally $36 - $44, discounted to $29 - $39.
• West Elm While the sale at West Elm isn't billed as a White Sale, they are offering 20% off select bath and bedding, including the Lexington Quilt and Shams.
• The Company Store They may be looking ahead a bit, but The Company Store is thinking spring with their White Sale Event. Fans of color, like this Solid Jersey Knit Set, this White Sale is for you!
• Macy's The Macy's New Year Sale is offering 40% - 60% off bedding closeouts, like this Hotel Collection Bedding.

Does anyone have a recommendation for sheets? My go-tos in the past were Costco's 500 TC Supima and Ralph Lauren's 350 TC sheets. Both lines have been discontinued. Consumer reports hasn't done a best of list in more than two years. Anybody have a sheet set they love?
@Heather from JustAGirlwithaHammer - Our new go to sheets are the Pinzon Hemstitch 400-Thread-Count 100 Percent Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set. Pinzon is the new generic like line from Amazon. We have had ours for about 6 months now and they are great. No pilling, no shrinking (I wash them in cold though) and fit perfectly plus we have the plum color which looks really nice. We have a cali-king and it came with a real cali-king sheet not a king sheet (which happens more than I like).
Thank you! I'm going to give those a shot.
We switched to the Target @Home 325tc sheets. They are deeper mattress pocket than some other brands.
We tried higher counts, but those made us sweat too much. No pilling, no shrinking, and I do use cold water wash.
Other brands shrank from king to a large double size. :(
what the... a $1500 comforter???
Would someone please explain to me how this $619.00 - $1,919.00 down comforter is budget-friendly?
I've had good luck recently with hemstitch 400 sateen sheets from Overstock. I bought them on sale, but I'd do a search to see if other retailers have them for less.

If you want beautiful goose down duvets at sensible prices look at www.warmthingsonline.com. They manufacture in the US and their quality is outstanding.
Only get 100% cotton! Polyblends will make you sweat no matter how high the thread count!
If you're not opposed to Walmart... These sheets are great! I've had these about a year and no fading or holes! They still feel super soft too!

Hope that helps!
I love Apartment Therapy but seriously? It isn't realistic to put these high priced items on the website since most of us have to shop cheaper than we ever have before. Maybe do a "Splurge" vs "Steal" column with products.
The reality of buying down duvets is that they will be expensive if they're real goose down. Another thing to factor in is where the down is from - if it's Canadian or European goose down it's going to be more expensive than say a globally sourced down.
If you take a look at our selection of duvets at Au Lit for instance: http://www.aulitfinelinens.com/collections/pillows-duvets/products/au-lit-duvet
You can see how the price gets higher as the quality goes up. Our globally sourced down duvet (the Au Lit) is the cheapest, and the most expensive would be our Polish down duvet.
Here in Canada, you'd be looking for the "Downmark" from The Down Association of Canada, an organization that rigorously tests products for cleanliness, quality, and proper labeling. They do checkups with these suppliers on a regular basis. I would recommend checking out their website for some valuable information, such as their list of fraudulent down products: http://www.downmark.ca/consumer_information/fraud.htm
Something to keep in mind is that it really is an investment buy, and you'd be looking at 10 year guaranteed lifespan with these particular products. I'm assuming from the price points you mentioned that those duvets are likely a very high quality down.
For something budget-friendly I'd either stick with globally sourced down duvet or even a synthetic duvet.
