Unique Visits (aka Readers) for October: 4,971,056
Dear Readers, remember when your first car rolled from 99,999 to 100,000 miles? Well, we put some heavy mileage on the odometer this month, and we're gearing up to tip the balance into 5 million monthly readers next month.
This is a HUGE milestone for us, and all of you have helped us inch closer to our goal by sharing, tweeting, and Facebooking your favorite Apartment Therapy posts with your friends.
In the six and a half years since I started blogging (queue ancient first post here from 2004) you have been extremely generous in growing as an audience at a rapid rate.
Although we didn't make it to the 5 Million mark this October, you gave us the push we needed to go for the finish line next month. (BTW, this October was a rare 5-weekend month, which in Internet-world means a slight dip in traffic.)
If you'd like to help us reach 5 million in November, please SHARE YOUR FAVORITE APARTMENT THERAPY POST OF ALL TIME with your friends. Here are three different ways you can help:
• Tweet your fave post (#5mil, @AptTherapy)
• Facebook your fave post
• Forward this post and your all-time favorite post on to six folks
My favorite post is here, David & Im's Onespace, a great home discovery from our 2006 Small Cool contest that went on to appear in many magazines and TV shows... until David and Im moved on to greener pastures a few years later.
And to get you thinking, here are the TOP TWO POSTS OF ALL TIME on any of our blogs, with each over a half million page views:

• Top 10: Sleeper Sofas / Sofa Beds

• How To Make Creamy Ice Cream with Just One Ingredient
To excite you further, if and when we cross the line I'm going to document our entire office introducing themselves in our office while wearing our new Mailchimp monkey hat. How can you beat that?

Matt showing off the new Mailchimp hat at Brooklyn Beta last Friday
So, please go SHARE with five friends, and thanks so much for being one of our readers. :-)
Best, Maxwell
Founder, Apartment Therapy
PS. We'll keep track of the numbers and let you know when we cross the 5-million mark!

Nomade Express Slee...
i just posted sarah and steve's attic aerie house tour. i'm not sure it's my favorite of ALL time, but it sticks in my mind for it's simplicity and elegance.
Here's the link! Sarah & Steve's Attic Aerie
Great to see the traffic has risen so high... I hold fond memories of AT back in the early days around 2003-ish
I’ve been a reader since I moved into my first apartment in 2005 (I believe I was sleeping on a mattress on a floor, and was googling how to build a bed when I found AT for the first time). I'm now on apartment number 4, all of them much improved due to AT's influence. Thanks for keeping such a great community going!
The video was great. I'm pretty sure that is a Calexico song, right? I'm not sure cause my only experience with them was seeing them live before Arcade Fire.
I would post my favourite if I could, but I can't find it. I've been looking for months!
My favorite was Trish Grantham's Portland Nest. Absolutely sublime.
I go thru Apartment Therapy everyday at work and save the photos that I like and take inspiration from.
My husband isn't too keen on me constantly re-arranging our apartment, but the ideas I've gotten from AT have greatly improved my outlook on our place and my DIY abilities.
Thanks all. I have to say, I really thought that blogging every day would get old, but it's only gotten better and better. And it's really great to share this experience with you.
Looking forward to more faves.
They're all my favorites, can't pick just one! I look forward to AT everyday....
AT is soooo helpful, esp for someone like me. I'm just starting out and mega thirsty for diy tips and knowledge, where to go for help, supplies, stuff, etc. I'm constantly searching, tagging, and saving pics and posts to my style tray. I had lost touch last yr when the purchase of my house was dragging thru the months, and I was losing confidence, but it was good to come home to such a welcoming site. Nothing but love and gratefulness for you guys!!
A friend introduced me to AT just this summer, but since then, I've been a devoted daily reader (mostly of AT and the kitchn). These awesome sites help me get through the day and give me tons of great ideas for my house and cooking! Love you guys!
AT deserves a resounding round of applause for all the wonderful designs and concepts it has shared with it's devoted readers.
Many good lucks to Maxwell and the talented staff @ AT :)
AT dragged me away from all other blogs and I haven't looked back. thanks!
I've put a link to you on my website :)
David & Im's Onespace is my fave too. Angela's Bright Orange Crush is a favorite too, as was Maxwell & Sara Kate's Reno. (And many smallest, coolest entries as well.)
Congrats on almost 5 mil. This site has been a wonderful journey for a lot of people, including myself. I was searching for the NY Times article where I first discovered AT--could it possibly have been in 2004? Design Sponge was featured in that article too--when I came across this open thread discussing where people had discovered AT:

I finally had the pleasure of meeting Maxwell at his book signing and talk here in DC tonight. It was great to meet you Maxwell!
BTW, I miss the open threads that used to be part of AT. I thought they were a great online community builder.
Nope, it was 2005--here's the article:

I'm pretty sure what drew me to the site was the name. Apartment Therapy really spoke to me.
I'm only a recent reader so it's hard to choose a favorite post. But the most useful post was on how to search craigslist better - it changed my life!
Btw, the car goes from 99,999 to 100,000.
Wow, congrats AT! If it hadn't been for your posts about painting furniture I'd never gone ahead and "just did it."
Love the house tours and the inspiration I get from visiting you daily for years now. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on your milestone of popularity :) i've been addicted to at since 2004 & honored & thrilled to be included in the community of at devoted readers. Maxwell's generous teaching & sharing has enriched & inspired me & millions (I wish I could complete an 8-week cure, I LOVE the advice & pictures, but I'm too embarassed to show pictures of my clutter :)
Pixie - there was an earlier NYTimes article, in '04:

I think that's the one that got me started.
