Cereal is maybe the most nostalgia-inducing food around. Saturday mornings as a kid (parked in front of cartoons, cereal bowl in hand) were happy times even though my parents were pretty stingy with sugary cereals. Urelsque recently took a sugar-coated trip down memory lane to pay tribute to cereals who've gone to that big recycling bin in the sky.
Though they missed my own childhood favorite (remember George the Milkman?) there were plenty in their photo layout that I did remember and others I'd never seen before that were fun pop culture oddities (NKOB Cereal? Really?).

There used to be a cereal called T.S. Grahams or something like that. It had this Norman Rockwell-esque picture of a boy on the box. And it was delicious. I miss it.
I just heard this morning that Captain Krunch may be discontinued due to low sales. I find that gravely saddening. I may have contributed by so often trying the different store brand versions of it. But I tell you, there is NO SUBSTITUTE!

There was this one called smores crunch that was AMAZING.
Super Golden Crisp is gone??? What a shame - it was awesome. It had a foil inner bag because it got stale/soggy quickly, though. I also remember the Nerds and Strawberry Shortcake cereal. I loved the double sided box for the Nerds cereal!
I've never had any of those cereals.
I miss Count Chocula, I can't find it anywhere.

Rice Krispy Treats cereal still exists. I just bought a box 2 weeks ago.
My parents were so uncool. I never had any of these kinds. (Except Super Golden Crisp, which I didn't know wasn't around anymore.) Those toys on all the boxes are awesome.
applebomb -- Count Chocula is my fave too. I often find it at Target (esp around Halloween)
