6 Checklist Apps for the Holiday Season (and Beyond)

Weekly Smartphone App Roundup

We're entering the busiest time of the year — the time when our number of checklists grows from the standard to-do and grocery lists, adding on Holiday shopping, cards, and errands leading up to the big day. Taskmaster apps certainly come in handy when getting a proper handle on holiday to-dos, and are helpful all year round as well.

Clear

Clear has set itself apart for the competition as a taskmaster app that aims to get things done efficiently (and stylishly). Utilizing a flattened interface long before iOS 7 came around, Clear uses multitouch gestures to manipulate and create items with pinches, swipes, and drags of the finger/s. $1

Checkmark

A smarter checklist comes in the form of Checkmark, an app that uses clever features like geolocation and timers to better handle a task. Let's say you create a Holiday shopping list for the mall: when you set the address and list to the corresponding location, Checkmark automatically pops it up when you arrive at your destination. $5

2Do

Although a more professional choice, 2Do has a lot more capabilities than the standard checklist apps. For example, it's possible to assign additional details to a task such as phone numbers, e-mail addresses or notes for personal convenience. I particularly love the tabs interface to swap between organized color-coded lists. $7 - Also available for iOS

Remember the Milk

For the unbeatable price of free, Remember the Milk is one of the more complete packages when it comes to taskmaster apps. Create personalized lists and add details to each item such as notes, deadlines, tags, and locations. Your lists can be synced across multiple devices and will be accessible via the website. Free - Also available for iOS

CleverToDo

On the Windows Phone platform, I highly advise CleverToDo for users who require more cognitive features and a good amount of detail associated with checklists. Based on the methodology created by David Allen for 'getting things done', which puts the idea to work that a person needs to move tasks out of the mind by recording them externally. $2

Tile Checklist

My favorite feature for the Windows Phone platform is the animated and vibrant tiles on the home screen. Not only can they look good, but they are functional at the same time. In the case of Tile Checklist, your shopping lists and pending tasks are all accessible on your home screen as a convenient reminder. Free
