That chandelier is a head injury waiting to happen. If the baby doesn't suffocate in the pillow and bolsters first. Seriously, what is with all the dangerous foof in crib displays? I'm sure (I hope?) that parents take all that crap OUT before putting the baby IN. But from a design perspective the uselessness and fussiness of having decor that really needs to be removed/replaced multiple times a day for safety...it's just stupid on so many levels. I am just so sick of looking at this garbage--oh look at my beautiful quilt! for my newborn! You're not going to use the quilt, or the pillows, or the daisy chain (strangulation hazard) of dolls, etc., etc., so why are you festooning all your furniture with it? And why is AT: Nursery fawning all over it?

You are a bit of a pill. I personally dig the chandelier. Say you have really high ceilings and combine it with an otherwise un-flouncy decor....

I'm not saying it doesn't look cool. I'm saying it's not a great choice to hang over a baby's head.

The first room is way too formal for a casual gal like me. The third and fourth room seem too theme-y for my taste (esp the third room). I like what I see so far in room two. I esp love the bedding and mobile ribbon.

Once the baby who sleeps in the crib in the first picture can stand up, he or she will don the fluffy angel wings and then grab the tassle hanging from the chandelier to escape from the crib.

I find it kind of weird that all these rooms seem to be filled with safety hazards.

Love the floral vine in Mia's room. The dark vine makes it all work-not too sugary sweet. The animal print room is just a bit much, and I'm not crazy for theme rooms, even nurseries.

That ribbon mobile is awesome, especially if you imagine having a fan gently blowing the ribbons. (Please note all the usual caveats about fans, child safety, etc.) I want one for MY bedroom.

For the record, it looks to me like the chandelier is more toward the center of the room and not directly above the crib. I don't think it's quite the safety hazard it's being berated for.

Plus I love chandeliers and wish there was somewhere in my nursery for one! My friend has a beautiful black one that provides a really nice soft light for late night breast-feeding. Enough to see what you're doing but not so much that you're blinded when stumbling in at 2 am.

I like the first 2 rooms, not wild about the 2nd two. I really dislike theme-y nurseries..very little room for growth and changes in taste.

And I might be stealing that ribbon mobile idea...

I love the ribbon mobile idea and am going to make it this weekend for my toddler's room. She has a fan in her room that would gently blow this and I think she would love it. Heck, I love it!

the safari room is a little too over the top for me... Maybe that's what Meadow's room would have looked like (Sopranos). I think the first two are not my taste but are really sweet examples of the type of nurseries they are. The last one is so happy and cheerful!

Agreed on so many comments. Most of these defy all the safety recommendations for baby rooms and are completely impractical. Little vase of flowers on a low nightstand-knocked over as soon as baby can pull self up. Angel wings, small frames & chandelier tassel are just low enough a toddler can yank them down. Same with bumblebees attached to picket fence. And don't get me started on the low baskets and shelves that seem easily climb-able to a curious 2-3yr old. Aesthetically, I find these to all look very cliche for my tastes, but are definitely in line with the typical Parents reader's ideas of what looks good. The reality is kids need things that are safe & durable, so practicality really needs to come before a fantasy theme.

seriously, if you want people to view the slideshow, then make it work like a slideshow. i had to click and close through ad after ad after ad to get through the first few and then i gave up because i'm not wasting my time clicking/closing all the ads. it's just not worth my time.

except for the orange gingham wall, everything was hideous. Yuck.

The last one was ok..the first was meh.
I suspect all this is pushing me on the path to minimalism. Particularly the stifling leopard print one.. the less said about that the better.
