Why I use color:

I use color to infuse stimulation and contrast in a room and to create a certain mood. A pleasing color combination can make you happy without even realizing it. I choose light blue for my room because it's calming, and to kick it up a notch I painted the wall behind my headboard a darker blue, highlighting the unusual shape of the headboard with the heightened contrast. I used orange and pink accessories and fixtures to complement the blues in the room.

2 good color tips:

1. Find inspiration in one of your favorite things; articles of clothing, little trinkets, flowers in your garden, etc. Start with a certain hue that inspires you and work out from there.

2. Don't overdo it with a variety of bright colors everywhere. Your eyes need somewhere to rest when entering a room.
