Last week we shared an early sneak peek at the Obama State China service, which features a beautiful turquoise-y teal blue hue that the White House has dubbed "Kailua Blue", in reference to President Obama's home state of Hawaii. We searched for similar paint colors for those of us who want to add a little tropical color - USA style - to our own homes...

Paint Colors to try in your own home for a Kailua Blue-ish look:

1. Valspar's Vintage Teal|
2. Yolo Colorhouse Dream.06
3. Sherwin Williams Oceanside
4. Behr Teal Motif
5. Benjamin Moore Slate Teal
6. Olympic Animation

In addition to being very "of the moment" thanks to its inclusion in the new Obama State China pattern, this deep teal is a powerful statement color that is also remarkably versatile. The rich blue color is equally attractive with warm or cool neutrals (its especially beautiful with warm creams and brownish-grays) and feels very fresh when combined with warmer (gold and bronze) metallic accents.
