#6 - Spyrogee's Asian Accents

Name: Spyrogee
Location: Fullerton, CA
Type: 1 Bedroom/rental

Why I use color: Color is an easy way to create a focal point in a room. When I moved into this apartment, it was a neutral white palette. I painted an accent wall gold and carried it onto the wall behind the love seat to frame the art and increase its scale so it wasn't dwarfed on the high 10 ft wall. It is the focal point of the living room.

2 Good color tips:

1. Use color to set a mood. Cool colors for a sleek contemporary space. Warm colors for a cozy nurturing feel.

2. Use color, bold or subtle, to reflect your personality. Even in a neutral palette typical in many apartments, you can use color in the upholstery of your furniture, accents like pillows, floral arrangements, or artwork to reflect your personal taste.

Good color resources:

1. I used Benjamin Moore color samples. The 2 oz. samples let me experiment until I found just the right color.
