The tiny house was intentionally built to be less than 70 square feet — the legal definition of a habitable room in North Carolina — in order to avoid construction permits. Featured on Tiny House Blog, the owners have used it as a weekend retreat as they build a larger "habitable" home nearby...
From the owner, Jeff: "It is solar and insulated and with a flat screen TV, a toilet, and a queen size bed, it has been our home practically every weekend for the past 3 1/2 years while we build a larger house by ourselves. It stays warm with body heat (two adults and a 70lb dog) in winters that can see 40+ inches of snow. It has been absolutely great! It forces you to get out and stay active."

okay I get the whole living with just what you need but seriously? This is smaller than the average cubicle size of the year 2000 (190 sf). And with windows covering an entire side I would hope there is a screen around your toilet. I'm not a fan... sorry.

PS since a deck isn't considered inhabitable space,a covered, wrap around one would look so charming and add great outdoor living for the warm months.
I'd consider living in one during the summer weekends. If I had a place on some water, I would put up an 8x8 hut. It is absolutely beautiful! What more do you need than a soft place to put your head at night??

No showering? And I guess they are the kind of people comfortable using the bathroom in front of one another. Kudos to them, but couldn't do it myself.

i love this, but I agree with Seaside, I'd add a porch. Additionally, to address the showering issue, I'd build an outdoor shower! Wish there were interior pics...
I would imagine looking at the pitch of the roof and the tiny sky light on the top that the bed would be in a loft just inder the roof. The toilet is probably an enclosed one at the back with the small window for ventilation. I agree that a porch would have been great.
That's really cute. I could imagine using it for weekend getaways, and it would also make an adorable guest house. I could not imagine living there for more than a few days out of the month, and I would not be able to use the toilet without privacy.
