We had something run over the front of our oven, and now there's a stained trail in between the panes of glass on the front of the oven. The only way I can see to clean it is to take apart the glass, which I'm reluctant to do. Anyone had experience doing anything like this?
chriswarren - If you're positive it's between the glass, you'll have to take the door apart. It should be something covered under warranty with most technicians.
Though if you are feeling like you can handle it yourself you can take the door apart without the sky falling. There will be screws that hold things together, clips that hold the glass in and more screws after that.
It's not for the faint of heart and all pets should be put outside or in a bedroom to make sure they don't knock any of the small pieces around or break the glass. It's not impossible, but it is a tricky one! If you go through with it send us photos!
(though I did just read an account of someone removing the drawer under the stove and with a bottle brush covered in a sock... going in through the vent holes on the bottom of the door to clean it. Might be worth a try first!)
My favorite (and chemical-free) way to clean the microwave is to stick a coffee mug full of water in the microwave for 5-7 minutes. When it's done, let it sit without opening the door for another few minutes. Then just open the microwave and wipe everything down with a paper towel. The water vapor and heat soften a lot of the stuck-on food particles and the condensation eliminates the need for spraying cleaning solution any where.
