It may seem somewhat counterintuitive to purchase something to help you get all your stuff organized but sometimes that's exactly what it takes. Whether you're cleaning out your closet or trying to tame your junk drawer, these stores will help you get the gear you need to make your space work.
• Container Store Perhaps once of the first names that comes to mind when you think of organizing, their website is extremely user friendly and if there's store in your area you can even order online to pick up in store on the same day.
• Storables Based in Portland, Oregon, and with brick and mortar locations on the West Coast, plus an extensive online inventory, this store is a great stop for organizational tools and accessories.
• Organize It We first profiled this source for all things storage and organizational back in September and we find ourselves frequenting the site again and again as we search for ways to stash our stuff.
• Stacks and Stacks This 28-year-old retailer is based in San Francisco but they're a great source for shopping online, with free shipping and an expansive inventory.
• U-Line Their specialty is shipping supplies but U-Line also carries a lot of great organization tools.
• IKEA Even if it means trekking out to the 'burbs, IKEA is a great (read: cheap) source for little boxes, hooks and other organizers.
• G.U.S. The letters stand for Great Useful Stuff and they ain't kidding. We especially love their Kangaroom Storage options.

I have bought lods of adorable boxes at the target dollar store. I have brochure (magazine) holders and other office supplies from Target that were under 5 bucks.
DO NOT ORDER FROM ORGANIZE IT. They refused to honor their posted sale price for a bookcase. They claimed the employee who keyed in the price made a mistake and the price was higher than what was advertised. I spoke to a supervisor and they refused to honor their own price. Terrible experience.
thanks for the links. a suggestion for your webmaster... can you please code the links to open in a new window? thanks.
I dream of drawers like the one in your photo! I've purchased many an item also at TheOrganizedParent.com.
Very useful list. I think we could all do with more storage space.
Muji also has awesome containers, stacking drawers and lots of other well-designed stuff (they are Japanese). If there's no store near you, the Museum of Modern art has a lot of their products www.moma.org
I find mason jars work really well for organizing. They're also cheap and can be found at any hardware store or big box store.
I use them to store pens and office supplies, makeup brushes, bulk foods, utensils, bathroom stuff (toothbrushes, toothpaste), loose change, sample sizes of hand creams, and on and on. (I also like them better than tupperware for food storage, because they clean up better and don't stain.)
They're also great in a pinch as flower vases, centerpiece additions (i.e. filled with a string of lights, candles, or small lemons), or drink containers. Pinterest has lots of ways to dress them up, too.
I've also found that having flat trays or tiles helps make things look decluttered. For example, I group my perfumes on a small piece of porcelain tile I got in Turkey. Not only do I get to look at this gorgeous tile everyday, it makes my dresser top look organized. I've gotten great trays from Target, Etsy, bazaars in random cities around the world, and Ikea. I'm sure there's some cool DIY potential, tooo.
I am a professional organizer and one of the worst mistakes people make is not to MEASURE before purchasing organizing items. PLEASE do yourself a favor and measure the height, width and depth of drawers, closets, cabinets, etc. before you zoom out and spend more money!
One would think the erasers, pens etc. were Velcro'ed® in place in the top photo. Really?!!! And cull before going out and buying organizers....for anything.
